It is no secret that Donald Trump did things a little differently when he was in office.
That would include how he declassified documents.
Trump reportedly had a standing order on this front, which the DOJ and FBI seem to completely disregard.
You Don’t Have to Like It
Unless you are the president or vice president, there are very strict rules for classifying and declassifying documents.
Whether people like it or not, if you are the number one or two in the country, you have blind authority to declassify as you see fit.
Trump reportedly had a standing order that documents removed from the White House and taken to Mar-a-Lago were declassified.
Trump’s office stated, “As we can all relate to, everyone ends up having to bring home their work from time to time.
“American presidents are no different.
“President Trump, in order to prepare for work the next day, often took documents including classified documents from the Oval Office to the residence.
“He had a standing order that documents removed from the Oval Office and taken into the residence were deemed to be declassified.
“The power to classify and declassify documents rests solely with the President of the United States.
“The idea that some paper-pushing bureaucrat, with classification authority delegated BY THE PRESIDENT, needs to approve of declassification is absurd.”
This may sound a bit extreme, but other administrations have taken similar action on this front when it suited them.
I cannot help but laugh at the idea that the search warrant made note of the Espionage Act, which seems a bit sensationalistic to me.
This is Trump, however, and Democrats have made sure the rules are changed when it comes to him.
They are terrified of him, but I am a bit more terrified of how the DOJ and FBI are being weaponized to take him out.
