A Minneapolis, MN, school district just went off the deep end.
School layoffs are coming and the district just announced its new layoff policy.
Before all other teachers will be considered, regardless of status or tenure, the white teachers will be let go first.
Can you imagine having decades of tenure, an immaculate record, and being laid off for someone that just walked through the door because he or she is a minority?
If you want to cause racial tensions, this is exactly how you do it.
The animosity that will be present after this will be thick enough to cut with a knife.
The school district says it is righting past wrongs with this, stating, “To remedy the continuing effects of past discrimination, Minneapolis Public Schools and the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers (MFT) mutually agreed to contract language that aims to support the recruitment and retention of teachers from underrepresented groups as compared to the labor market and to the community served by the school district.”
Parents say “hogwash,” and I am not walking about white parents.
Everyone is outraged because you do not fix past racial issues with another racist policy.
These two knock it right out of the park…
Here is my question… how the hell did the members of the union vote to allow this to happen?
This is racism, plain and simple, and we can only hope they get taken to court and it winds up before the Supreme Court to get the issue settled once and for all so this blatant pandering stops.
