In 2016, polling took a big hit in terms of being reliable.
Virtually every national poll had Hillary winning, only Trump clocked her.
I thought, just like everyone else that the polls got it wrong.
However, in reality, they nailed it.
Reason to Worry
The polls were national polls, so they were akin to the popular vote.
When you look at the numbers, they were pretty much in line with how many popular voters Hillary had won by.
Popular vote means nothing, however, especially when Hillary wins New York and California by roughly six million votes, and the popular vote by less than three million.
Well, in the latest polling there has been a massive swing.
The GOP went from being up four to six points to being down four points in generic congressional polling.
Abortion has risen to the second most important issue, still below the economy but above inflation.
Again, this is just one poll, and we need to see a trend before we really start to panic, as this could be an outlier.
I will also note this is the first poll post-Roe v. Wade being overturned that we have seen this type of bump, and dozens of polls have been taken since then.
Do we hit the panic button?
Not quite yet, but they sure have my attention.
