Three Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania police officers have been charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of 8-year-old Fanta Bility. They were also fired from the force. This tragedy highlights our topsy-turvy New World Order, where the cops go to jail for trying to protect the public, while nobody questions young hoodlums packing heat in public and shooting out their disputes on the street, just to be cool.

‘Reckless’ Officers charged

When someone shoots at cops, they aren’t always allowed to shoot back. Since 2016, the Philadelphia area police department’s “use of force policy” prohibits “officers from firing weapons if an innocent person could get injured.” Guidelines also ban them from “firing at moving vehicles.

There’s an “exception” to that though, and the subtle distinction seems to be slipping through the cracks. “Except,” the guidelines say, “in the case of self-defense or in defense of the public.” This, apparently, was both.

Liberals didn’t like the idea that the young gang bangers who started the shooting spree were charged with murder of little Fanta Bility by proxy, instead of the officers.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer announced last September that “he was holding the teenagers who started the gun battle accountable for the murder of the little girl.” The law there says they can do that, so they also charged them “for the wounding of all of the bystanders.

Liberal heat came down hard. That’s why, on Tuesday, January 18, the DA responsible for Delaware County “announced 12 criminal charges, including manslaughter and reckless endangerment, against each of the three Sharon Hill police officers who fired their weapons” on that fateful night, after a High School football game.

On August 27, Pennsbury High played Academy Park High School at the Academy Park stadium. As fans were leaving the game, a “verbal altercation” broke out between “16-year-old Angelo ‘AJ’ Ford and 18-year-old Hasein Strand.

Defense of self and public

Devon Smith, Sean Dolan, and Brian Devaney, the three involved officers, were providing event security and “positioned opposite the entrance to the stadium that people were leaving through.

Little “angel” AJ Ford started the battle by capping off two shots at Strand for emphasis. The lead was fired straight at the the Sharon Hill cops. Almost instinctively, the police “returned fire.” They happened to be shooting “in the direction of the football field.

Five people were struck by bullets. The officers fired four of them. One struck and killed the innocent toddler. “We have concluded that the gunfire, combined with the movement of the vehicle, precipitated responsive gunfire.” The teens were originally charged with murder and wounding all the bystanders but an outraged community wouldn’t let the charges stick. Stollsteimer announced on January 18, that “his office had withdrawn the murder charges previously filed against Ford and Strand.

Ford, he notes, “is still facing charges for trying to kill Strand, and Strand has already pleaded guilty to aggravated assault for his part in wounding one of the juveniles who was shot, and to illegal possession of a firearm.” Strand will get 32 to 64 months in prison, then come out to graduate into Armed Robbery.

At the Borough Council meeting where they decided to fire the trio of cops, Dyamond Gibbs spoke on behalf of the Bility family during a public comment period. She noted to reporters afterward that “the family is worried that Sharon Hill Police Chief Richard Herron may not be held accountable.

They’re “aware, of course, of the charges brought up against the officers, but the family was asking about the role of the police chief and all of this, why he’s been so quiet.” Gibbs continued, “yes, we know there’s a lawsuit out there against him. But he’s never said that, ‘Hey, this is not our policy, this is wrong.’ He’s just been giving off a very complicit behavior type, I guess you can say, compared to the family, and just how they’re feeling. They’re very upset.
